![]() In fact, this might just be the biggest change in the game: this time around, the plants are in limited supply.Īs you use peashooters and walnuts in battle, your stock will deplete, and you'll need to grow more on your farm to replace them. Like seemingly every game on Facebook, Adventures gives you a virtual plot of land to customize you can add buildings that generate cash over time, and set up a nice little farm to grow zombie-destroying plants. But even though you'll be out on the road, you'll still need to protect your home. This time around, the plants are in limited supplyĪs you progress you'll unlock new plants to add to your arsenal, including some brand new weapons like an asparagus missile. This is the core of the game, and it helps keep things fresh by constantly putting you in different locations with different strategic possibilities: zombies will come in from different directions, for example, and sometimes you'll have multiple things to protect. Instead of just protecting your house, you'll also go out on road trips where you'll need to clear areas of zombies while protecting your RV. This all remains true in Adventures, though the formula has been tweaked a bit. In order to plant new weapons and defenses, you'll need to collect sunlight, which is generated by - you guessed it - sunflowers. Some plants are offensive (like a peashooter that literally shoots peas), while others are defensive (like a walnut that serves as a barrier). If, for some reason, you haven't played PvZ, the basic structure is simple: Zombies come shambling in from one direction, and you'll need to place various kinds of plants to keep them from reaching your home. While it contains many of the same features and a similar structure to other games on Facebook (there's even farming), Adventures still maintains that same addictive gameplay that made the original Plants vs. But games like Adventures could help change that. Despite the social network's best efforts, Facebook is still viewed as a home for spammy, sub-par games, not a platform for truly great titles. ![]() Zombies Adventures combines a thing you like with a thing you don't: it's a spin-off of Popcap's terrific strategy franchise, but it's also a game that's exclusively available on Facebook. But you have some new tricks up your botanist’s sleeve: spray bottles of Plant Perk (temporarily makes plants more powerful) and ZombieFreeze (stops zombies for a few seconds).Plants vs. In this version, you also have a smaller variety and number of plants to use in a given battle, so the strategy of placement is very important. That’s fun and challenging plus you have an opportunity to study the battleground before selecting your variety of plants to take into the fight. Instead you have winding, crisscrossing paths where the zombies can come from multiple starting points and you have to defend multiple things. New to this version are combat grounds that constantly change – the action here doesn’t take place in your front yard. The heart of this game is analyzing how to best use your limited number of plants to combat the constant forward motion of the zombies. Zombies keeps a lot of what makes the original game special, but adds in some new strategy components and a little socialization. Adding a cherry bomb to your arsenal allows you to take out a bunch of zombies if they are clustered together.īut it’s the strategy that keeps players coming back for more of the undead’s shenanigans. Walnuts can block the path so zombies must stop to chew through their tough shell, thus making them vulnerable to projectile attacks. A pea plant shoots its peas at a steady and consistent pace, which can eventually cause the zombie to fall over and disappear. Some, like Sunflowers, provide you sunlight to power the growing of the other species. ![]() ![]() Each plant has a unique ability to help you fight the zombies. To defeat these silly zombies (they show up wearing barrels, traffic cones, and the like), you need to be constantly growing your army of plants. You eventually work your way across 12 different maps, each filled with multiple levels of zombie-fighting puzzles. You will grow plants, throw them in Crazy Dave’s RV, and go on a roadtrip to fight zombies in a new location. With the overall goal of purging the town of zombies, you slowly reclaim each parcel by battling the poaching undead. You learn to grow warrior plants in the designated pots so that you can protect your property from new zombie invasions. Crazy Dave, a wild-looking fellow wearing a cooking pot for a hat, serves as your guide. Starting with one square block, you click around to clean up the mess and select buildings to reconstruct. You enter a town that has been overrun by zombies and thus covered in a disgusting pink fog. Zombies Adventures combines strategic puzzle play with simulation to create an undead world that’s a blast to explore.
